The Walter and Betty Davis Wetland

This 1.5 acre wetland in the southwest corner of the lake adjoining Pearson Meadow was reconstructed and restored in 2002. The Conservancy diverted the canal dug by previous owners and dug lateral ponds along its margins on the lake side of South Loon Lake Road. The water was dammed to create ponds that would allow it to seep into the aquifer rather than run unimpeded into the lake. This wetland area, sometimes referred to as Pearson Meadow, was renamed The Walter and Betty Davis Wetland in honor of these lake residents who provided the leadership, financial support and inspiration which led to the creation of the Loon Lake Land Conservancy.
